Buying diamonds online is a pretty frustrating experience. But it doesn’t have to be.
If you’re in the market for say, an engagement ring, or a nice diamond bracelet you may be wondering what the best place to buy them from is. Well, that’s a tough question. But one that can be solved with a little bit of digging.
The first thing you should be concerned about when trying to decide where to buy, is what you’ll get when you buy.
You see, there are a lot of diamond sellers out there that are scam artists. Have you ever wanted to buy a diamond engagement ring only to find out it was a cubic zirconia the whole time? Not a fun thing to go through.
That’s why it’s important to do your research and be confident that the diamond store or retailer you’re choosing to buy from is actually legit.
There are some reviews online of diamond retail stores but you have to be sure the source of the review is reputable. Executive Ice, the site linked to, is a pretty reputable blog about fashion, diamonds and jewelry.
They’ve compiled a list of the two best stores to buy diamonds from and put them head to head to see which one is best.
Then of course, there are other forums and things you could look at to see if a particular engagement ring store is worth your time. There are plenty of reviews online.
You should also probably learn about the 4 C’s of diamonds – cut, clarity, color, and carat weight. Arming yourself with a little bit of knowledge is always a good idea when it comes to anything. So learn about what the differences are between diamonds and other gemstones. You’ll be glad you did.
Also, ask for some help. You could always try and get certified at an institute like the GIA, but that can be costly and time-consuming.
I’d personally say just do some research on the internet and you’ll be fine. And when you are ready to buy that diamond then just make sure you get to see actual pictures of the diamonds you’re thinking of purchasing. Too many times, a retailer will just throw up a stock image, and what you get in the mail is something totally different.
You don’t want that to happen to you. So just take a little extra time before jumping into an expensive purchase head-first. You’ll be glad you did. I know it can take some time, but it’s well worth it.
Who knows, it may even save you a few thousand dollars. And who doesn’t want that?
